Situated within a sprawling campus of approximately 75,000 square feet, the Dabur Research Foundation (DRF) serves as a comprehensive solution for all your preclinical needs. Our cutting-edge GLP facility features 42 state-of-the-art experimental rooms, meticulously designed to support every stage of drug discovery and development.

The facility is equipped with advanced air-conditioning and a robust safety and HVAC system, ensuring a controlled environment conducive to high-quality research. Key components are seamlessly integrated, including the In-Vitro lab, In-Vivo lab, DMPK lab, OECD GLP-certified Animal Facility, and Tissue Culture laboratory. This strategic design facilitates efficient workflows and collaboration among different research teams.

Endorsed by CPCSEA, our Small Animal Facility accommodates a diverse range of species, including rats, mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits. We utilize Individual Ventilated Cages (IVCs) to meet the specific needs of immune-compromised animals, ensuring optimal care and experimental conditions.

In addition to our core capabilities, specialized areas such as Archives, a Test Item Control Unit, a Cold Room, and a Centralized Document Control facility are in place to ensure strict adherence to GLP standards and regulatory requirements. At DRF, we are committed to providing an exceptional infrastructure that supports innovative research and fosters successful drug development.

Cell Biology

The Cell Biology Lab at DRF is recognized as one of the premier facilities in India, setting the standard for excellence in research and innovation. Our state-of-the-art facility features P-II laminar air hoods and is equipped with advanced Nikon inverted phase-contrast microscopes, CO2 sensor incubators, centrifuges, refrigerators, deep freezers, and controlled cryopreservation units.

Our dedicated team possesses the expertise to adapt to the rapidly evolving landscape of research strategies, employing a comprehensive range of specialized in vitro cell culture techniques. We specialize in handling various cell types, including primary cultures, anchorage-dependent cancer cells, suspension cancer cells, endothelial cells, untransformed cells, dendritic cells, and whole organ hair cultures.

Furthermore, our repository boasts a diverse collection of cancer cells representing 20 different organ types, ensuring robust options for researchers. At DRF, we are committed to advancing scientific knowledge and providing exceptional support to the research community.

Pharmacology

The Pharmacology Lab at DRF is a non-GLP as well as GLP-certified facility designed to facilitate small animal experimentation with the highest standards of safety and ethical compliance. Pharmacology at Dabur Research Foundation has achieved Good Laboratory Practices compliance certification for the Pharmacology Department, further establishing commitment to quality and regulatory excellence. DRF has also successfully registered its Test Facility with the USFDA (FDA Establishment Identification 3006607414).

Our dedicated spaces include specialized quarantine, breeding, and experimental rooms tailored for rodents and rabbits, ensuring optimal conditions for research.

All animal experimentation activities are conducted under the supervision of the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), adhering to the guidelines established by the Government of India. Our facility is registered with the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA), with registration number 64/PO/RcBi/S/99/CCSEA, allowing us to breed and conduct experiments ethically and responsibly.

DRF is accredited by AAALAC and holds certifications from OECD GLP and ISO 9001:2015, in addition to being registered with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR). We meticulously manage the flow of test items, test systems, materials, and waste in accordance with GLP and other regulatory standards, ensuring compliance at every level.

Our facility accommodates various animals, including rats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters, all procured from reputable vendors. We provide standardized pelleted animal feed to support their health and wellbeing. The animal facility features a double corridor design with controlled access and an automatic double-door sterilizing chamber to maintain hygiene and security.

To ensure the highest levels of animal care, four dedicated veterinarians are always present to monitor and oversee activities within the animal facilities. DRF maintains a stringent animal welfare policy, prominently displayed at the entrance. We encourage all employees to report any animal welfare concerns through written submissions to the Institutional Official (IO), the Chair of the IAEC, or the Attending Veterinarian, using various channels such as mail, drop box, or suggestion box.

Histopathology

The Pathology Lab at DRF is equipped with designated laboratories for necropsy, biochemistry, and histopathology, featuring state-of-the-art, fully automatic equipment. Our advanced facilities include a hematology analyzer, biochemistry analyzer, coagulation analyzer, tissue processor, microtome, and more, ensuring precise and efficient testing processes.

We offer a comprehensive range of services, including special staining in addition to routine staining, microscopy and digital imaging, quantitative image analysis, as well as pathologist interpretation, consultation, and peer review. This wide array of services allows us to support a variety of research and clinical needs effectively.

Our pathology laboratory is staffed by three highly qualified and experienced pathologists—histopathologists and veterinary pathologists—along with a skilled team of laboratory personnel. Their expertise ensures high-quality results and valuable insights, contributing to the overall success of our research initiatives.

Analytical, BA, DMPK

The DMPK and Analytical Lab at DRF features state-of-the-art instrumentation, providing comprehensive analytical services to meet the diverse needs of the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries. Our lab supports a wide range of analytical requirements, including Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), New Chemical Entities (NCEs), agrochemical testing (physicochemical testing and five-batch analysis),  herbal drug characterization, and Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) bioanalysis, along with various other chemical analyses.

Our team of scientific experts is dedicated to delivering effective and efficient solutions for research and development, analytical development and validation, and quality control testing. We provide critical data that supports product improvement and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

The DRF Analytical team specializes in generating data for various regulatory submissions, including those for the USFDA, EPA, EU, Brazil, and the CIB & RC, among others. Our laboratory employs a broad range of advanced analytical technologies and instrumentation, utilizing techniques such as chromatography, elemental analysis, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, particle size analysis, and more.

Toxicology

The Toxicology Lab at DRF conducts non-clinical safety assessments aimed at identifying potential health risks associated with test articles. Our toxicology department plays a crucial role in supporting drug development by evaluating the safety profile of products and ensuring they meet regulatory requirements.

With a focus on designing, conducting, and reporting studies, our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality data and insights that inform risk assessments. Genotoxicology

The Genotoxicology Lab at DRF focuses on assessing the potential of test articles that cause DNA damage or disrupt chromosomal integrity. With a strong commitment to scientific excellence, our lab plays a critical role in evaluating genetic safety, which is a key component in the risk assessment of new chemical entities.

By utilizing advanced methodologies and robust experimental design, our team ensures that every study is conducted with precision and thoroughness. Formulation

The Formulation Lab at DRF is dedicated to advancing pharmaceutical development through the application of Quality-By-Design (QbD) principles. Our formulation experts utilize QbD tools to meticulously plan Design of Experiments (DOE) and implement effective risk assessment strategies, ensuring a robust development process.

Our development approach is enhanced by state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, along with a team of highly dedicated formulation specialists. This combination allows us to deliver optimal dosage forms that are not only stable and scalable but also compliant with industry standards.

Acrhives & TICU

The Archives Department at DRF serves as the central repository for all study-related, process-related and facility-related documentation, ensuring strict compliance with GLP principles and regulatory standards. Our team manages the entire lifecycle (as per GLP standards) of critical documents, from secure storage and maintenance of study files, raw data, and final reports, to facilitating timely retrieval when needed. The department also enforces rigorous data retention and disposal policies, conducting regular audits and quality control checks to guarantee the integrity and traceability of all records.

In conjunction with the Archives, the Test Item Control Unit (TICU) oversees the secure handling, storage, and documentation of all test articles. This ensures that every test item is accounted for and managed in compliance with regulatory requirements, supporting the seamless conduct of studies. Together, these departments form the backbone of DRF’s commitment to regulatory excellence and high-quality data management.
